Matthieu Blazy’s second collection for Bottega Veneta was another highlight of Milan Fashion Week.
In front of a few hundred guests, including Raf Simons, François Henri Pinault, Kirsten Dunst, Solange or even Erykah Badu, propped on colorful chairs by Italian design master Gaetano Pesce – these unique design pieces entitled “How are you?” will be available for purchase at the upcoming Design Miami. “The idea was to represent different characters and put them in the landscape of Gaetano”. A tribute, then, to diversity and inclusion – Blazy presented a collection that, for him, represents “perverse banality”. Behind this expression was a dynamic collection suitable for all occasions.
Through these formal or informal silhouettes that can be worn for any occasion, Blazy continued to showcase his highly technical know-how, such as these pieces (shirts and pants) made only of soft leather treated and printed to look like cotton. These trompe l’oeil effects continued, for example, with a faux fox fur print seen on suits and evening dresses, while the rest of the collection oozed luxurious sophistication with funnel necks, double collars and overall pristine tailoring for men. As for the women, they were treated to beautifully tailored coats and jackets, knit dresses loaded with contrasting fringe, coat dresses or slipdresses cut in gorgeous color combinations.
