To mark the 10th anniversary of his label AMI, Alexandre Mattiussi turned to New York City, out to capture the allure and exhilaration of its 1990s fashion scene. He snatched up the era’s favorite figures and gave them a Parisian do-over, sprucing up their looks for a contemporary, style-conscious consumer.
Thus, he was nodding to the designers, TV shows, and models that shaped his understanding of the fashion world, from early Helmut Lang collections, Calvin Klein, to the effortless elegance of Caroline Bessette-Kennedy.
“Every season, our shows tell a special story; this presentation is no exception. Its narrative pays a tribute to cinematography, a universe that has always inspired me and that I wanted to further explore. The Fall/Winter 2021 collection is a very special one, a collection that deserved to be filmed so I could fully showcase its colours, joy and high energy. Through this digital presentation, I wanted to echo the fashion shows that I followed through my childhood, the period that would later have a huge influence in my decision to become a designer”, shared the designer.
As for the clothes, it was the collection of the real, featuring a dynamic, yet straightforward wardrobe with oversize and well-defined silhouettes where suits were the crux of the collection, underlined by modern minimalism and inspiring blocks of colors.
