In an unprecedented move, luxury fashion house Gucci has announced acclaimed Indian actress, Alia Bhatt, as its first-ever Indian global brand ambassador.
Bhatt is set to make her debut as Gucci’s brand ambassador at the highly anticipated Gucci Cruise 2024 runway show in Seoul. The event, slated to take place at the historic Gyeongbokgung Palace on Tuesday, will celebrate Gucci’s impressive 25-year presence in South Korea.
Alia Bhatt, a household name in Indian cinema, began her journey as a child actor in the suspense thriller “Sangharsh” in 1999. She gained significant recognition in 2012 with her leading role in Karan Johar’s “Student of the Year“, marking the start of a prolific career in Bollywood. Her exceptional talent has earned her numerous accolades, including five Filmfare Critics Awards and the Time100 Impact Award for her contribution to the entertainment industry.
Bhatt’s global appeal has recently extended beyond Bollywood. She made a cameo in the historic Golden Globe-nominated film “RRR” and took on a gripping role in Netflix’s dark comedy “Darlings“. The latter marked her first production venture under her company, Eternal Sunshine Productions. Her next major move sees her starring alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan in the Netflix spy thriller “Heart of Stone“, her first American film release.
Beyond her acting prowess, Bhatt is also a well-established figure in the world of fashion. She has graced the covers of international magazines like Vogue India and Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, and made her Met Gala debut in a breathtaking Atelier Prabal Gurung ivory ballgown. Further diversifying her portfolio, Bhatt has ventured into entrepreneurship, launching her sustainable maternity and children’s clothing brand, Ed-a-Mamma, and investing in Nykaa, a prominent beauty company.
Gucci’s decision to appoint Bhatt as a global ambassador resonates with the brand’s commitment to fostering cultural empowerment and inclusivity. Her advocacy for these values aligns seamlessly with the brand’s mission, making her an ideal choice. As the new ambassador, Bhatt joins an esteemed group of international personalities, including Korean group NewJeans lead singer Hanni, “Squid Game” star Lee Jung-jae, actress Mina Shin, and renowned Japanese talent Jun Shison.
Other notable personalities associated with Gucci encompass Dakota Johnson, Julia Garner, A$AP Rocky, Elliot Page, Halle Bailey and Liu Wen.
