adidas, the sportswear giant, has unveiled a stunning new home jersey for FC Bayern München (FC Bayern Munich) for the 2023/24 season, ingeniously paying homage to the club’s quintessential red and white colors.
The new kit serves as an expression of the club’s strong identity and undying commitment, reimagining the iconic red and white shades that are deeply ingrained in the club’s history. Maintaining simplicity, the jersey adopts a fresh white foundation, ornamented with daring, deep red sleeves. This design is a thoughtful salute to the team’s very first home kit, which adorned these colors when the team debuted in Germany’s top division.
Engraved inside the collar, the phrase “Rot & Weiß ein Leben lang” reaffirms the club’s allegiance to its colors, translating to ”Red & White for life”, reflecting the club’s mandate that home kits should always feature red and white.
Lisa Datz, Senior Product Manager at Adidas Football, spoke of the significance of the colors, saying, “Red and white have represented FC Bayern Munich’s identity for over a hundred years. These colors symbolize pride, unshakeable confidence, and tremendous victories. This new kit emphasizes the colors’ importance to the club, and we eagerly await its appearance on the pitch and among the fans as we launch into the next phase of the red and white success saga“.
In a bid to highlight the deep-rooted relationship of FC Bayern München with its colors and the city of Munich, adidas and the club are partnering with the Superbloom Festival in Munich, set for 2nd and 3rd September. The collaboration serves to underline that the Bavarian capital is as red and white as the club itself.
The high-performance version of the jersey employs Adidas HEAT.RDY materials and design, optimized for player comfort. The fan replica version utilizes AEROREADY technology, engineered with sweat-wicking fabrics to ensure dryness.
Club legend Thomas Müller shared his thoughts on the new kit: “The red and white colors have accompanied me throughout my life. With its traditional design, the new home shirt embodies the success story of FC Bayern Munich“. Similarly, Lina Magull, FC Bayern München player, expressed her affinity for the new jersey and the colors it represents, describing it as a fusion of “history and elegance“.
In line with adidas’ environmental initiatives, both jersey versions are created using 100% recycled polyester, showcasing the brand’s commitment to battling plastic waste. Earlier this year, adidas announced it is ahead of schedule in its ambition to substitute virgin polyester with recycled polyester in its products by the end of 2024.
The newly minted home jersey made its pitch debut against RB Leipzig on May 20th and was made available for purchase from May 17th. You can buy this iconic piece of sportswear from FC Bayern München stores, selected adidas retail outlets, and online at adidas.com/football, starting from €100.
