adidas Originals and Chinese designer Dingyun Zhang have launched their second collection, featuring the innovative adidas Kouza sneaker and two fresh adidas Samba updates. This collaboration builds on their previous partnership, which debuted with the Dingyun Zhang Samba.
The centerpiece of this new line is the adidas Kouza, a shoe that embodies Zhang’s fascination with transformation. Named after an East Asian ornamental plant known for its seasonal changes, the Kouza combines craftsmanship with storytelling. Its design prioritizes resilience, mobility and breathability, resulting in a unique silhouette that challenges conventional footwear norms.
Zhang explains, “The adidas Kouza embodies the oscillation between form and function while retaining elegance and style.” The shoe features an exaggerated heel guard, a signature element of Zhang’s designs, as well as an extended outsole and taped seams that create an interesting contrast between the mesh upper and rubber casing.
Inspired by the adidas Beijing 2008 Boxing Boot, the Kouza pays homage to Zhang’s Chinese heritage while continuing the brand’s tradition of innovation. This fusion of cultural references and cutting-edge design exemplifies the collaborative spirit between adidas Originals and Dingyun Zhang.
Complementing the Kouza, the collection introduces two new versions of the Dingyun Zhang Samba. These iterations reimagine the bold foundation of the original design in full suede. One comes in a tonal gray colorway, while the other combines brown with bright orange accents on the tongue and laces, finished with a white heel tab.
The latest adidas Originals by Dingyun Zhang capsule collection will be available at select retailers and via the Confirmed app on October 18th.
