Schiaparelli opened Haute Couture week, presenting its new Fall/Winter 2022 collection at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
‘’Renaissance’’ is the title given by Daniel Roseberry to the Schiaparelli fashion show, which took place at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, where a large retrospective on Elsa Schiaparelli will run from June 6, 2022 until January 22, 2023.
And exceptionally, several of the outfits shown on the runway will be featured in the exhibit, titled ‘’Shocking! The Surreal World of Elsa Schiaparelli’’. And in this exhibition, we will also find the red skirt and the navy jacket decorated with a huge golden brooch representing a dove that Lady Gaga wore to Joe Biden’s inauguration or the Bella Hadid’ long black “Poumon” dress with a golden necklace in the shape of lungs at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, next to historical pieces such as the iconic lobster dress worn by the Duchess of Windsor in 1937.
“It is true that fashion can be futile at times. Fashion is also provocative, stunning, demanding and eloquent. It is sublime”, said Daniel Roseberry in a touching note explaining his intentions for his new collection.
To an astonishing score by John Williams, Steven Spielberg’s and George Lucas’s composer of choice, featuring songs from cult blockbusters such as “Jurassic Park” and the “Star Wars” saga, there was a slow parade of corseted velvet sheaths, asymmetrical silk negligees revealing the breasts, slanted dresses held together by a thread, overflows of flowers escaping from a neckline or resting on the shoulder…, and theatrical hats by Stephen Jones.
While last season, the collection declined a summary color palette only in whites, blacks and gold, this time, Daniel Roseberry opened the space to other shades such as the delicate red, or the midnight blue. A breathtaking collection!
