Three months after the first drop, the second installment of the Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga collection is finally here, still as enigmatic but slightly brighter than the previous one.
Originally scheduled for May 25, the collection was postponed to two days later, on May 27, but as a sign of solidarity with the victims of the mass killing that bloodied the city of Uvalde, Texas.
“In light of the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, we are postponing the launch of Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga until Friday, May 27. While we take a break, our thoughts are with the families and communities affected”, Gap said soberly in a statement.
The second opus of this triple association (Ye, new name of Kanye West, Gap and Demna Gvasalia of Balenciaga) is more or less based on the first collection released last February. There are archetypal hoodies, oversized t-shirts, denim jackets, sweatpants, but also, new, Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga anoraks and tank tops, yes summer is here too!
Another novelty and not the least: while the first drop was largely dominated by a very, very dark palette, cut by the blue of denim, this second collection is slightly brighter. The famous black, much loved by Ye and Demna Gvasalia, is of course still there, but touches of gray, blue that is close to woad blue, interrupt the dark palette so characteristic of this collection.
A flaming cap and a range of utilitarian yet avant-garde shoes complete the collection.
