The Fall/Winter 2023 show of 1017 Alyx 9SM, showcased during Milan Fashion Week Men’s, took place at the Spazio Maiocchi art gallery and showed a raised runway placed in front of Mark Flood’s paintings, which served as inspiration for designer Matthew Williams’ collection.
Williams drew inspiration from Flood’s artworks to create garments with a smudged, stained, and distressed look. He used this aesthetic in leather blousons, cropped to perfection, and jeans with frothy protrusions that mirror Flood’s intricate lace paintings.
Williams also displayed a strong sense of proportion in his designs, adding extra length and broad shoulders to outwear pieces while keeping his white leather blouson trim and ending just past the waistband.
The show featured eye-catching accessories such as mini backpacks hanging from a single strap with a large roller coaster-shaped buckle, leather caps with a bunny earring attached, and mid-rise slouch boots with heavy industrial soles.
