The Puma x San San Gear’s second collection collection proves that technical sportswear doesn’t need bright colors to make a statement. The Seoul-based label has returned to its partnership with the German sportswear giant, building on the foundation of their initial collaboration from last year with two updated silhouettes: the Talon and the Mostro Caged.

San San Gear stripped both sneakers down to pitch-black colorways, creating a unified visual language across the entire range. The Mostro Caged departs from the original’s signature strap closure, introducing an asymmetrical lacing system that’s partially concealed for a streamlined appearance. Meanwhile, the Talon, a Y2K-era silhouette from 2004 known for its rippling upper lines, gets the same monochromatic treatment.

San San Gear’s founder, Sangyup Lee, launched the brand in 2019 after working in Korea’s skatewear industry for three years. He wanted to fill what he saw as a gap in the market with technical outdoor gear that borrowed from subcultures beyond the usual streetwear playbook. The name itself comes from the Chinese character meaning “bright and shiny,” referencing the synthetic materials used in performance clothing.

Cut-and-sew pieces anchor the collection, applying the same utilitarian mindset to footwear. A knitted long-sleeve shirt with anatomical cut lines across the body and arms is the core piece. Jackets, pants, and shorts complete the lineup of wearable items, each of which is designed with functional accents that prioritize movement and practicality over decoration.

Accessories include a bag designed for everyday use and a cap with a unique tie-off closure. Everything stays within the same black color scheme, reinforcing the collection’s focus on function rather than flash.

Campaign visuals depict the collection in an urban setting – delivery bikes weaving through alleys and concrete towers framing lone walkers. It’s gear for real life, not just for show.

San San Gear has built its reputation by drawing from alternative rock, hip-hop, and anime influences to create what the brand calls “functionality wear.” The label regularly collaborates with indie musicians, DJs, and 3D artists to keep its design language fluid and responsive to subcultural shifts.

The Puma x San San Gear collection drops on October 31st, 2025. You can find it on puma.com, in flagship stores, and at select retailers worldwide.
