Sir Paul Smith, a veteran in the fashion industry with over five decades of experience, recently previewed his brand’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection. During the preview, he shared his thoughts on the fashion business, revealing that many of his customers are not concerned with the theme of a collection but are instead looking for practical items like coats and jackets. This insight inspired the latest collection, which features a range of tailoring and outerwear options with unique details.
The collection showcased a range of tailoring and outerwear options, with each piece designed to be both functional and stylish. From invisible pockets to accommodate modern essentials like AirPods to sleeve buttons placed at the front, every detail was thoughtfully considered. The pieces were cut in fabrics that echoed the brand’s men’s line and lined with the signature stripe fabric, creating a cohesive look.
One of the highlights of the collection was Sir Paul Smith’s take on the iconic Le Smoking style. His version, made from satin and wool, was designed with a Bar jacket-like waist detail, offering a softer and more modern silhouette than the original by Yves Saint Laurent. A longer coat version was also available, providing customers with even more options.
The collection wass a modern take on traditional tailoring, featuring stronger shoulders and asymmetrical shapes. Sir Paul Smith described it as “modern dressing“, and the look book, featuring model Lily McMenamy, showcased the brand’s unisex collaboration with Mulberry, set to hit stores later this Fall.
