Back in February at Paris Fashion Week, more precisely at Virgil Abloh‘s latest collection for Off-White held at the Palais Brongniart, Pharrell Williams was spotted wearing a pair of black oxfords from the late Abloh’s collaboration with shoe brand Church’s.

True to Off-White’s seditious nature, the unisex capsule collection that includes two pairs of shoes, released in two times, reflects Abloh’s very authentic and personal take on the artisanal tradition. It also expresses Abloh’s obsession with reinterpreting classic designs with new references that give them an entirely new context, without altering their true nature.
Here, the late designer revisited the British shoemaker’s elegantly-crafted, brogue Oxford Burwood design, which dates back to 1953, with a contemporary aesthetic. The classic handmade brown suede upper of the original shoe has been replaced with a brushed calf leather version.
Several signature details that Off-White is known for have been applied to the pairs, such as “Special Events” screen printed in white in Abloh’s favorite Helvetica font, adorning the outer lateral side while the laces are similarly decorated with “Shoe Laces”.
A green leather hangtag completes the design.
