J.M. Weston, the renowned French luxury footwear brand, has partnered with the Paris Opera to create an exclusive collection to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Palais Garnier. This limited-edition line, which will launch in February 2025, features seven exquisite pieces that combine the timeless elegance of J.M. Weston with the grandeur of the iconic opera house.
The collection is inspired by the opulent architecture and rich history of the Palais Garnier, incorporating elements that pay homage to its legacy. Olivier Saillard, J.M. Weston’s Artistic director since 2018, expressed his excitement for the project, saying, “There are iconographic elements in the decor of the Palais Garnier that we couldn’t do without to embody this collaboration, namely the lyre or the sun.“

Among the standout pieces is a men’s and women’s moccasin with intricate cannetille embroidery that echoes the sun motif found in the auditorium above the stage curtain. This design choice is a nod to Louis XIV, the “Sun King,” who founded the Royal Academy of Music in 1669.
Another notable creation is a velvet moccasin adorned with a delicate lyre embroidery in a gold blazon, symbolizing the music and poetry that permeate the legendary venue. Marc Durie, President of Weston, explained the meticulous craftsmanship involved: “Embroidery is not part of our expertise, so we partnered with a Parisian embroidery workshop. These embroideries were then applied to the velvet goatskin of the shoes, which were assembled in the Limoges factory.“
The collection also includes an asymmetrical black patent calfskin Richelieu with a gold-plated brass toe and black satin laces for a couture-inspired look. Its burgundy lining is a subtle nod to the plush chairs and drapes of the Palais Garnier, evoking the warm, theatrical atmosphere of the venue.
Completing the line are two clutches in smooth or black patent calfskin, their sleek designs emblazoned with the iconic “Place de l’Opéra, Paris” address on the back. These accessories embody the timeless modernity of the Paris Opera House and its status as a hub for the capital’s finest cultural events.
Martin Ajdari, Deputy General Director of the Paris Opera, emphasized the shared values of the two institutions: “Our mission, like J.M. Weston’s, is to transmit, enhance and perpetuate these precious, high-quality skills so that we can create magic and beauty on stage every night.“
The collaboration goes beyond mere aesthetics, highlighting the craftsmanship that both J.M. Weston and the Paris Opera hold dear. With more than 180 artisans representing various trades across the Opera’s three locations, this partnership celebrates the fusion of tradition and innovation.
Saillard went on to explain the inspiration behind the collection: “It was an opportunity for us, through these three models, to densify a proposal for the evening, with models for the people who come to see the show.“
The images for the collection were shot backstage at the Bastille and Garnier Opera Houses with Étoile dancer Paul Marque, adding an authentic touch to the campaign.
This exclusive J.M. Weston x The Paris Opera collection will be available from February 17th at selected J.M. Weston boutiques and on jmweston.fr.
As Saillard aptly put it, “At J.M. Weston, we don’t just celebrate shoes, but also the step, the art of walking.” Indeed, this collection represents a significant step for both brands, bridging the worlds of luxury footwear and the performing arts in a truly remarkable way.
