Giaborghini, a prominent Florentine shoe brand, is expanding its creative horizons by incorporating unique perspectives into its product designs. The brand has fostered fruitful partnerships with talents such as Fai Khadra and Miaou’s designer, Alexia Elkaim, for the development of innovative capsule collections.
As part of the brand’s endeavour to reach diverse customers and reveal the myriad aspects of the Giaborghini woman, the label has reached out to Khadra and Elkaim. Barbara Borghini, the founder of Giaborghini, has highlighted the expansive scope of these collaborations, stating, “Our aim is to veer away from our conventional business model and cater to diverse tastes by exploring different creative avenues”.
Borghini had her sights set on working with Khadra, admiring his sophistication and aesthetic appeal. Khadra, a model, musician, and set designer, is well-known for his ties with the art world and the Kardashian-Jenner family. This association could prove beneficial in elevating Giaborghini’s visibility. “What caught my attention was his multi-faceted involvement in fashion, art, and architecture”, Borghini commented.
Khadra’s designs for the brand are inspired by his diverse interests, with elements like the metallic high heels reflecting industrial art and demonstrating skillful craftsmanship. “Khadra visited us in Florence, did a lot of investigation, and showed a keen interest in reviving the artisanal traditions our region is known for”, Borghini reminisced. The collection features intricate detailing like the handcrafted ruched details that are the highlight of the leather pumps, mules, and boots in the ‘90s-inspired collection.
Additionally, the collection includes Giaborghini’s first-ever men’s shoe, a robust loafer featuring a chunky lug sole and harness details, marking the brand’s move towards a more inclusive product range.
The partnership with Elkaim’s chic brand Miaou resulted in the creation of three high-heeled styles in various color combinations. “Miaou is a young, globally relevant brand, representing a diverse set of women“, praised Borghini. Miaou, initially a denim brand, has swiftly evolved into a prominent fashion label known for its seductive silhouettes and vibrant prints.
The two capsule footwear collections are designed to cater to different customer segments with distinct price and distribution strategies. The Gia x Fai collection will be retailed between 550 and 800 euros, while the Miaou collection will range from 360 to 590 euros. Presently, Giaborghini is sold in 180 outlets globally, including notable retailers like Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Selfridges, Browns, LuisaViaRoma and Mytheresa, among others.
