Anna Sui is set to launch five new fragrances this fall, coinciding with the presentation of her Spring/Summer 2025 collection. While her last show at the Strand was a New York highlight, the absence of a traditional runway presentation allowed for an intimate glimpse into Sui’s creative process at her Garment District office and showroom. For Spring/Summer 2025, Sui found inspiration in the unexpected: Andy Warhol’s early commercial art. This fascination translated into a soft pastel color palette and unique prints that permeated the collection.
Always one to collaborate with like-minded creatives, Sui enlisted artist Paul LeRoy Gehres to design a cherub logo motif, a whimsical detail that adorns shrunken ’90s-inspired tees, capturing the hearts of Sui’s younger fanbase. Notably, a new printing technique, reminiscent of Warhol’s signature blotted outlines, graced a delicate lace slip dress, showcasing Sui’s commitment to innovative design.
The Spring/Summer 2025 collection evokes a sense of retro escapism, with themes of travel, resorts, and country clubs taking center stage. Picture vintage photographs of beach vacations from the 1960s – that’s the vibe Sui effortlessly captures. Think cozy terry lounge sets, playful A-line micro-shifts in vibrant jacquards and floral piqués, charming souvenir-print silk-cotton voile pajamas, and cardigans exuding a distinct Dean Martin aura, all complemented by glamorous bejeweled cat-eye sunglasses. Anna Sui even offers a refreshing take on prom attire with ruffled pastel tulle dresses, providing a welcome counterpoint to the overly mature styles favored by some high schoolers today.
