Rain greeted guests at Stella McCartney Spring 2027, making the collection’s concern with water unusually immediate. After a period of extreme heat in Paris and reports of flooding elsewhere in France, the designer used her latest show to examine the relationship between fashion, marine ecosystems and consumption.

The presentation began with David Attenborough’s introduction to the 2025 documentary Ocean. From there, McCartney focused on a question that has long shaped her work: why some animals are protected or admired while others are treated primarily as resources. Fishing and its effects on dolphins, octopuses and other marine species became an important part of that argument.
The clothes, however, remained designed for everyday wardrobes rather than functioning simply as environmental statements. Tailored jackets were drawn in at the waist with cords, while one jacket shape was extended into a bodysuit. Wide trousers appeared with transparent sections below the knee, reflecting a wider interest in sheer detailing seen across recent collections.

Marine references were incorporated directly into construction and surface treatments. Curved forms followed jacket lapels and shirt edges, while similar details secured softly draped evening dresses. Transparent fishing line was worked into knitwear to produce raised and irregular edges. Dolphin graphics appeared on t-shirts with the faded quality of old seaside souvenirs.
Colour also followed the coastal theme without becoming literal. Washed greens and coral shades were mixed with cream, dark brown and pale neutrals. Recycled denim appeared with crystal decoration, giving familiar fabric a more formal finish.

Accessories continued the material experiments. The Falabella appeared in a transparent version made partly from recycled plastic bottles. The Ryder bag was reshaped as a heart, while the Appaloosa was reduced to a smaller shoulder format. Transparent finishes were also used on loafers and narrow-heeled pumps, alongside sneakers from McCartney’s work with adidas.

Behind the styling sat the more technical part of the collection. McCartney cited recycled polyester, existing unused fabrics, protein-based alternatives and lab-grown wool among the materials being developed or reused. Her argument extends beyond her own company. She maintains that larger luxury groups must support alternative supply chains if lower-impact materials are to become practical for smaller labels.
That position gives Stella McCartney Spring 2027 a clear purpose without overwhelming the clothes themselves. The collection asks readers and buyers to consider where materials come from and what their production affects, while still offering jackets, trousers, dresses and accessories made for regular use.
