The North Face and Skims are teaming up to create a groundbreaking winter collection that blends technical expertise with contemporary style. This partnership marks Skims’ first foray into cold-weather apparel, leveraging The North Face’s decades of expertise to create a collection that effortlessly transitions from the slopes to après-ski.
Kim Kardashian, co-founder and chief creative officer of Skims, brings her personal winter sports experience to the partnership. “I’m extremely proud to announce The North Face x Skims collaboration. This marks Skims’ first-ever foray into the world of winter wear and partnering with The North Face allowed us to leverage their expertise in this category,” said Kardashian. An avid skier herself, Kardashian drew inspiration from her own experiences on the slopes to create the collection.
The collection blends The North Face’s proven winter apparel designs with Skims’ renowned body-conscious approach. David Whetstone, director of collaborations at The North Face, explained: “We maintained best-in-class constructions and materials, and this collaboration came about from a mutual admiration.”
Drawing on archival pieces, the collection features sophisticated neutral tones and precise silhouettes. The range includes compressive base layers and form-fitting outerwear, demonstrating both brands’ commitment to excellence. Jens Grede, CEO of Skims, highlighted the technical achievements: “This collaboration with The North Face allowed us to leverage the brand’s heritage expertise and enhance it with our own creative and solutions-based design codes for one of our most technical collections yet.”
Photographer Vanessa Beecroft captured the collection, featuring an ensemble cast navigating the picturesque mountains of Chile. The imagery highlights the collection’s monochromatic layering and the seamless fusion of Skims’ streamlined aesthetic with The North Face’s mountain-ready performance.
To complement the launch, an exclusive in-store shopping experience will reflect the identities of both brands, combining Skims’ sleek, monolithic forms with The North Face’s technical precision and hardware detailing in a cohesive frosted, monochromatic palette.
The North Face x Skims collection will be available beginning December 10th, 2024 at skims.com, Skims retail locations, select The North Face stores, and luxury retailers including Ssense, Highsnobiety, and Luisa Via Roma.
