Portuguese soccer legend Luis Figo, who once conquered the football world, is now set to make his mark in the fashion industry.
With the introduction of his menswear brand, LF, Figo joins the growing trend of athletes who are embracing the world of fashion.
As soccer players increasingly gain attention from fashion brands, the relationship between sports and style has reached a new level of collaboration. Luis Figo, the celebrated Portuguese soccer star and recipient of the prestigious Ballon d’Or (Golden Ball) award in 2000, has recently decided to venture into the world of fashion with his menswear brand, LF. The brand is set to debut during Milan Fashion Week on June 17th, with its Spring/Summer 2024 collection targeting “sober, elegant and sophisticated” men.
Figo, who retired from professional soccer in 2009, is best known for his controversial move from F.C. Barcelona to Real Madrid in 2000, which was chronicled in the 2022 Netflix documentary “The Figo Affair“. In his pursuit of fashion, he has joined forces with Italian entrepreneur and fashion consultant Gandolfo Albanese, who boasts an impressive portfolio of collaborations with several menswear labels over the years.
The self-financed LF brand will initially launch a small capsule collection for Spring/Summer 2024, available exclusively on the brand’s e-commerce site in July. LF’s business model is designed to incorporate both wholesale partners and its own website, reflecting a strategic approach that blends traditional and modern retail channels.
