The Lemaire Fall/Winter 2023 collection was showcased in a unique setting, at the Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris, where models walked outside a café while visitors sat and watched the show, reminiscent of a scene from a Jean-Luc Godard film.
The collection included a variety of cold-weather clothing options, such as silk shirt dresses paired with high neck tops and knee-high boots, smart pajamas worn as suits, and voluminous parkas. The brand also emphasized layering and contrasts in texture, pairing flowy fabrics with nubbly knits, shearling with suiting and using piece-dye to create subtle differences.
The collection placed a strong emphasis on comfort with padded vests, quilted jackets or puffers, while still keeping layers light enough for buildable silhouettes. Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran collaborated with Indonesian artist Noviadi Angkasapura to create exclusive prints which added a “spiritual, a bit psychedelic [and] very graphic” vibe to the collection, elevating the brand’s signature “pragmatic elegance“.
