Dubbed “Re-Edition“, Dolce & Gabbana revisits its past, listing each year right back to when Stefano and Domenico launched their first collection in 1990, at a time when fashion was booming and fueled by creative freedom, newness and daring experimentation.
Signature looks from Dolce & Gabbana’s past collections abounded in today’s show. “Used in a fresh and new context the same pieces are assembled with new items to create and define a modern-day male silhouette and dialogue”.
White ribbed tank tops paired with matching underwear, ripped jeans and cargo pants, t-shirts adorned with sacred Sicilian imagery, fitted stretchy pantsuits, oversized double-breasted jackets, sheer or black lace shirts, gold embroidered tuxedos, biker jackets or with handmade embroidery, mechanic’s boots trimmed with rhinestones and crystals… it’s all there! And, even some pieces paid homage to David Beckham, the metrosexual archetype and longtime muse of the design duo. “He introduced real glamour into menswear, it was a key fashion moment which changed the conversation about how men dressed”, Stefano Gabbana told Vogue.
