The iconic Dior brand has unveiled its annual summer pop-up at Harrods to coincide with the London store’s momentous 175th anniversary celebrations. This exclusive Dior pop-up features an extraordinary collection of 175 limited-edition bags, including the coveted Miss Dior styles and trendy Book Totes, all inspired by the revolutionary fashion and women’s liberation movement of the 1960s.
Running through August 25th, the pop-up showcases Dior’s stunning Fall/Winter 2024 collection, which includes a range of exquisite footwear, leather goods, sunglasses, textile accessories and jewelry. The enduring relationship between Dior and Harrods, which dates back to 1953, is a testament to the timeless elegance and sophistication that both brands embody.
Visitors to the pop-up will be captivated by the vibrant array of colorful Miss Dior bags and the stunning sculptures showcasing the latest designs. Creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri masterfully draws inspiration from Dior’s first ready-to-wear line, Miss Dior, launched in 1967, to create modern masterpieces that pay homage to the brand’s rich heritage.
The Fall/Winter 2024 collection is a nod to the revolutionary spirit of the late 1960s, with bold slogan-style trench coats and skirts reminiscent of the student protests of 1968. Dior’s tribute to Harrods’ 175th anniversary is just one of many exciting events and installations the store is hosting to mark this significant milestone.
Harrods has curated a special anniversary collection of adorable bears and collaborated with other luxury brands such as Burberry and Valentino to create unique experiences for its customers. Michael Ward, the store’s managing director, says the aim is to celebrate Harrods’ distinctive brand and its pivotal role in shaping British culture and history.
The anniversary celebrations extend beyond the Dior pop-up, with Burberry taking over the store with its signature color and Loro Piana following suit for the holiday season. The Italian luxury brand will also open two permanent stores in Harrods as part of its takeover, further cementing the store’s status as a premier destination for luxury fashion enthusiasts.
