Charles de Vilmorin presents his first ready-to-wear collection for Fall/Winter 2024. The launch, which will take place at the prestigious Sphère showroom, marks a significant moment for the French designer and his eponymous label. Known for his vibrant couture pieces and dynamic presence in the fashion industry, de Vilmorin’s move into ready-to-wear promises to bring his unique vision to a wider audience.
A graduate of the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, de Vilmorin first caught the attention of the fashion world with his distinctive patchwork quilted bomber jackets inspired by artist Niki de Saint Phalle. His talent was quickly recognized, earning him finalist spots in the LVMH Prize for Young Designers and the ANDAM’s shortlist, as well as participation in the GucciFest online festival. His journey took a notable turn when he was appointed Creative director at Rochas, presenting his first collection in September 2021.

de Vilmorin credits his time at Rochas with deepening his understanding of ready-to-wear design. His recent collaboration as a guest designer for Galeries Lafayette’s 2023 holiday season further honed his product development skills. Reflecting on successful capsule collections, de Vilmorin felt it was the right time to explore ready-to-wear. “Since all these little capsules worked really well, it was time I gave it a go,” he said.
While de Vilmorin is celebrated for his couture creations with their surrealistic flair and vibrant colors, his ready-to-wear line has a more refined aesthetic. With this collection, the designer aims to establish a basic wardrobe that can evolve and expand in future seasons. The 25-piece assortment includes versatile pieces such as dresses, denim shorts, shirts, a trench coat and innovative takes on his signature bomber jackets. “Those are shapes I know I would reach for all my life,” de Vilmorin explained, signaling a desire for timeless appeal.
In addition to the clothing, the collection will include printed scarves that complement the season’s theme, inspired by a poem by George Sand. This poetic influence adds a layer of intrigue and narrative depth to the designs. de Vilmorin’s commitment to quality and sustainability is evident in its choice of materials, with a focus on silk, silk taffeta and premium cottons sourced from Supima.
Proudly made in Paris, the collection aims to offer accessibility to de Vilmorin‘s creative world. Prices are expected to range from around €500 for a printed cotton poplin shirt to under €2,000 for a silk taffeta-lined trench coat. Looking ahead, de Vilmorin plans to expand its offering to include knitwear and is exploring additional categories such as footwear.
