Some performance sneakers are built to impress at first glance, while others ask something of you. The Adizero EVO SL “Mars” by adidas and Pharrell Williams’ Humanrace falls firmly into the latter category. It lands on shelves on March 21st and comes with a point of view.

The colorway pulls from the dust of the red planet. To shoot the campaign, the teams headed to Painted Hills in Oregon – a stretch of landscape so otherworldly that it could pass for a different solar system entirely. The choice was deliberate. Running through terrain like that isn’t recreational. It’s purposeful. That’s the idea that Humanrace and adidas are promoting with this release: running not as an event, but as a habit. Not a peak effort, but a cumulative one. Consistency over intensity. Repetition over spectacle.
Whether or not you agree with this philosophy, the shoe itself is impressive.

The Adizero EVO SL borrows its performance foundation from the Adios Pro EVO 1 – one of the most respected marathon shoes on the market – and adapts it for everyday use. This includes full-length LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam, which provides a cushioned, high-stack ride without the rigidity often associated with carbon-plated racing shoes. There are no stiffening elements here. The result is a shoe that moves freely and responds to your foot. The engineered mesh upper provides zone-specific breathability, offering support where needed and allowing airflow where needed. This construction rewards runners who log regular miles rather than those who save the shoe for race day.

The “Mars” pack includes more than just the shoe: adidas and Humanrace are releasing a matching track jacket ($120) and shorts ($70) to go with the sneaker ($160). The jacket has a slightly more fitted cut than a standard track jacket, with enough structure to move with you without restricting your stride. The hem is adjustable, and the fabric stays light. The loose-fitting, mid-thigh shorts are built for outdoor movement. The entire running kit is conceived around a single visual idea: the red surface of Mars translated into wearable form.
The Humanrace x Adizero EVO SL “Mars” drops March 21st at select Adidas retailers, humanrace.com, and adidas.com. Sign-ups are open now on the Confirmed app.
