Jonathan Anderson, the designer behind JW Anderson, showcased his Men’s Fall/Winter 2023 and Women’s Pre-Fall 2023 collections at Milan Fashion Week.
The collection featured a return of the frilly shorts that caused controversy when they were first shown at London Fashion Week in 2013. Anderson noted that the shorts, now worn with leather and padlocked onto the waist, have become a seminal garment and are highly sought after by fashion museums.
The collection was light on new ideas and many of the models walked out wearing only fluffy, infantile briefs. Anderson revealed that his JW Anderson label will continue to show menswear in Milan and womenswear in London, with the next show scheduled for February 19.
He also announced that his namesake house is in expansion mode and will open a Milan boutique this spring on the Via Sant’Andrea, and that the frog-eyed shoes from his collaboration with Wellipets – the British maker of rubber boots with frog eyes, famously worn by Prince William and Harry when they were children – will hit stores in April.
