Jil Sander joined the Paris Fashion Week’s digital agenda with the showcase of forty-six look collection through a short film and digital lookbook.
In the uncertainty we are living, Lucie and Luke Meier strongly think that fashion can provide the optimism we all need to see the light at the end of the tunnel. They also think that dresses enable individuals to express and empower themselves.
“It’s a time of change for everybody. To be able to achieve change you need to feel empowered to do so. The way you dress changes the way you feel about yourself”, said Lucie. Luke added: “You want people to feel better, to feel good, strong, powerful; that this is our future. This is our medium to do so”.
The Fall/Winter 2021 collection embodied Jil Sander’s flare for impeccably designed minimal approach, filled with colors, patterns and a new positive energy.
Layering found its equilibrium in the simplicity of lingerie-inspired lace dresses; in knitted bodysuits donned with A-line skirts; in voluminous or fitted dresses. The lean construction of shirt-dresses opened into long and ample pleated skirts. Lace collars lied over tailored jackets. There were constructed and shaped dresses in mixed fabrics, joined at the waist by fashioned knitting.
The patterns and prints of the collection included florals, silk trousers and shirts, large-scale butterflies in black and white, Bauhaus geometric shapes, and garments stretched to create a three-dimensional effect.
The controlled and intellectual boldness the Meiers injected into the collection also influenced the accessories, which included boots enriched with bejeweled details, mini bags made of metallic marbles and jewelry designs ranging from chunky enamel chains to graphic maxi earrings.
