Forget about tailoring that hugs a little too tightly or trends that dictate your every sartorial move. Isabel Marant‘s Fall/Winter 2024 menswear throws the rulebook out the window, embracing a “preppy grunge” swagger that’s equal parts rebel yell and Parisian nonchalance.
“We wanted to mix things up, break codes and break barriers,” Marant explained during a preview of the showroom, her voice brimming with the confident ease that defines her brand. This, it seems, is a wardrobe built for the man who marches to the beat of his own drum, effortlessly blending classic elegance with a touch of edgy dishevelment.
Think cable-knit sweaters casually layered over leopard belts, tiger stripes dancing with layette pink and lavender, a bronze puffer whispering tales of smoky red evenings. A khaki jacket throws a curveball with a contrasting collar, while dad shirts are nonchalantly “crunched” – an intentional imperfection that speaks volumes about the collection’s ethos.

“It’s about wearing things in a spontaneous, unexpected way that gives the guy a special character,” Marant mused. And indeed, there’s an undeniable coolness in the way these seemingly basic elements are put together. The Marant man isn’t afraid to pair a preppy knit with a statement belt or let his tiger stripes peek out from under a tailored jacket. He owns his individuality and exudes an attitude that’s as Parisian as it is rebellious.
Marant calls these “little accidents” – the deliberate mismatches, the unexpected layers, the casual slouch of a dad shirt. But in the hands of a master like her, these “accidents” become a symphony of sartorial swagger. There’s no forced effort, no try-hard vibes, just pure, unadulterated confidence in the power of individuality.
This is a collection for the man who doesn’t follow trends, but sets them. It’s for the man who values comfort without sacrificing style, who embraces his inner rebel while maintaining a Parisian nonchalance the world would envy. In short, it’s for the man who understands that true fashion is about owning your story, one preppy-grunge masterpiece at a time.
