For this new collaboration, Hermès’ men’s creative director Véronique Nichanian and the French director Cyril Teste were inspired by the tapestry collection of the Mobilier National, showing large-screened sections of the originals hung alongside.
In this setting between ancient craftsmanship and digital that models moved forward, dressed in sumptuous crocodile jackets, fur-trimmed jackets and magnificent shearlings. These pieces stand out in their gorgeous palette of green, frosted blue, pale pink, pollen, brown, peat and anthracite – in conversation with the tapestry patterns.
Nichanian’s Fall/Winter 2022 offerings also included technical garments like satin zip-up jackets, technical parkas, the hoods and collars displaying the removable curly lamb lining, or blousons in embossed rubberized lambskin.
Cuts walked the line between full and slim, while suit pants were wider and jackets were lengthened. “It’s a modern dandy’s idea. After the pandemic, everyone wants to go out, meet people, be attractive and sexy”, said Véronique Nichanian. A way to encourage us to swap our casual clothes for a more elegant look.
