For Fall/Winter 2022, Brioni design director, Norbert Stumpfl was inspired by Jan Bruegel, the Elder’s painting “Allegory of Air”, displayed in Rome’s Galleria Doria Pamphilj – Rome is where the brand was founded. “I’ve been mesmerized by this painting for a long time”, said the designer. “I wanted to capture the image of air, which is both intangible and essential, trying to create substance in the absence of weight”.

The dynamism and the lightness of movement, in Breughel’s depiction of air, lent itself to the exploration of this collection shared between formal and casual. Thus, rigidity of the tailored silhouette is stripped away to form a new deconstructed and more comfortable silhouette, both in the palette (beige, brown, black, gray and various shades of blue and green), design and fabrics (alpaca, ultrafine knitwear and cashmere), more akin to Breughel’s allegory than a stiffly architectural suit.
Similarly, Brioni introduces a capsule collection of six looks for a female client, distinguishable only in the subtle differences of cut.
